So, I'm still going nuts waiting for any feedback on my story that I mentioned. Checking back. Checking back. Not really doing anything else for two days. I'm starting to think that I've got an ugly baby and no one wants to tell me. I never worry this much. What's different now?
I get e-mail notices when someone posts a comment to critique threads I participated in... finally a BAEN email shows up! And it's not for my story. And another. And another. None for my story.
I'm crawling the walls.
And now... someone commented. The little notice is there in my email. I've got to go look at it.
*deep breath*
It's probably nothing much. I'm calm. Really. I can go look. I can!

Maybe it will break the ice and someone else will comment.

Simplicity of access is another reason to go online.
You got to give time for these things to breath, so to speak. Develop its flavor.

My best experience with short story types is the Voyage of the Space Beagle. Loved that. Short stories chained together in one over-arching plot of space exploration.
Same reason I loved Ghost. 3 stories thus with triple the ending bang of a normal novel at 1/3rd the time required.
Ghost is one book that I'm ever so grateful I have on e-book rather than on a shelf where my kids can find it. Ack!
Princess of Wands had the same three-novella structure (and doesn't necessarily need to be hidden from children.)

I have some guy from George Washington University, in DC, always trying to go incognito at my wordpress blog. He was around in my blogspot days as well. After I got his IP and tracked his "anonymous" name usage across the nets, he kind of well... stopped. More or less.
These folks get a kick out of the "Anonymous" business of the attack and stalk routine. Not so fun when they are the prey, at least not for them.

Wordpress automatically logs IPs of commenters. I found that, in combination with stats based checking, useful for tracking abusive Anons. Information is power, if only because no defense is invulnerable to it.
This reminded me of that hilarious review of Watch on the Rhine by a Lefty book reviewer. Hilarious! I say.

These useful idiots are so easy to manipulate.
For one thing, it was extremely surreal. It was almost like a story about regular folks but... not. Ringo's characteristic quoting or inclusion of real life characters and interactions is also present there. I kept wondering whether the guy at the end was Robert Jordan and David Drake. Or perhaps he was speaking of Ringo's own failures in fantasy writing.
I liked the premise though and I liked very much some of the story remarks about religion and faith.
The Light vs the Darkness is always a nice overall theme. I especially liked its portrayal in the Babylon 5 series depicted quite well in the Shadow vs Vorlon war.
